Out and About

Chad was starting to get a little stir crazy around the house so we decided to go for our first outing yesterday! The three of us ventured off to Best Buy in search of a new washer and dryer and to Target for more diapers and baby wipes. Traci and Jenny would be so proud that I saved $7 off my Target bill with coupons. Anyway, Dylan slept the whole time so it was a success!!!

After our afternoon outing we figured we could muster up the strength to take Dylan to Davenport Country Club. We dressed him appropriately in a DCC logo polo shirt onesie for his debut. Wednesday night is men's poker night so we had to take Dylan up to pass out It's a boy cigars and to participate in gambling. A few weeks ago Chad organized a baby pool for Dylan's due date. No one guessed that he would come 2 weeks early so we had to do a random draw instead. Congratulations to our brother in law Eric Losen for winning the $66 pot!

Bath Time

Dylan is one week old today! We can't believe how much our lives have changed in just 7 days, but all in a good way of course. We celebrated by taking our first bath with the help of Grandma Kathy. He loved it!

We have spent the last few days at home like any other family with a newborn. Dylan loves to nurse, sleep (but mostly during the day), and create lots of laundry for mommy and dirty diapers for daddy! Life is good.

Home Sweet Home

After a long five days in the hospital we finally came home yesterday! Within a matter of minutes of arriving home Dylan had already taken over the main floor... Oh well, to be expected. Chad and I are SOOOOO lucky to have both sets of grandparents in town and eager to help us out. Also a big thank you to all of our friends and family who have visited and provided support. We could not do this alone. Although we are very happy to be home one thing we miss about the hospital is the nursery :) We think Dylan has his days and nights confused. He loves to sleep and be happy during the day and winds himself up around 11 pm when company is gone and we are ready for bed... Hopefully that will change! Our second issue we have run into is finding clothes for him to wear. Although he was considered full term, most of his newborn clothes are too big. We changed outfits 5 times yesterday and quickly ran out of laundry. Thankfully grandma Kathy excels in this department and graciously volunteered to go out shopping for some premie clothes this afternoon. Hopefully we'll find something that works. Otherwise, all is well here. Just trying to get into a new routine, life with a newborn!

Baby Everitt has arrived!

No 38 week belly shot photo to post as Dylan Julian Everitt arrived Sunday 7/19/09 at 4:12pm. He weighed 7'6" and was 19.5 " long. Baby is doing great and mom is recovering. It was a day we will NEVER forget and I'll try to make a long story short.... as you may remember I mentioned last weekend I had some nauseau and upset stomache. I had the same problem Friday all day and Sunday starting around 5 AM. I thought it was something I could try to sleep off so I made Chad go golfing and my mom come babysit me. We turned on the British Open and I took several naps. Somewhere around noon I had developed full on HELLP Syndrome. Basically I had a seizure and had to be taken to Genesis East in an ambulance. Once admitted I was told the only way to get better was to give birth - Bucko Jr had to come out via c-section now. So, away I went and Dylan entered our world 2 weeks early! But there's more - as a result of the issues I was sent to Intensive Care immediately after the C-section where I have been recovering. I am about to be released to post partum but I did not meet my little guy until 1 pm today, over 20 hours after he was born!!! So sad. So anyway, we have lots of catching up to do. Below, our new family of 3!

Camera Happy

37 week belly shot a couple of days late as promised... Chad wanted to take this photo outside to show off his new toy of the week. Feel free to oooh and ahhh because I'm not sure I showed too much excitement. But hey, if it gets me out of cooking dinner this summer and fall I'm all for it!!!
Moving on, I got a little bored after work today so I amused myself by taking some pictures as a reminder what pregnancy was really like in my final months.
Photo #1: Cankles. Definition as obtained from the Urban Dictionary:
n. 1) An aesthetically unfortunate physiological condition which leaves its victims with no discernable narrowing of the ankle between the calf and the foot. 2) An ankle which has no discernable narrowing from the calf to the foot. History: The word is derived a combination of the words calf and ankle. Victims of this condition are advised to avoid the following: ankle boots, ankle-strap shoes, anklets, ankle socks, ankle tattoos, high-top shoes, and any other footwear or legwear that might draw attention to the cankle region.

Photo #2: The 'Mask of Pregnancy'. I have had skin darkening around my neck for the past 3 months. The only four people who have had the guts to ask me about it (or try to clean it off) include Chad, my mom, my dad, and my cousin Ellie. I guess everyone else just thinks I haven't showered or its a birth mark.

Photo #3: Belly front view 37 weeks. A picture really is worth a thousand words...

That's all for now!

37 Weeks

Belly shot to be posted later. I attempted a self photo this morning unsuccessfully as my stomach is so big it could not fit in the picture. Pretty embarrassing. So it only took 37 weeks but I'm starting to feel pretty pregnant. I'm now experiencing major cankles, upset stomache, and nighttime potty trips every 30 minutes. Bucko Jr is starting to give me some signs that he may not stay in utero forever. Oh well, guess thats normal. I think it may be time for Chad and I to start discussing names and getting some items for a hospital bag together just in case. Speaking of Chad I haven't seen much of him this week as he has been busy working at the John Deere Classic. I am heading out around noon to watch 36 holes of golf (thankfully Deloitte has an air conditioned suite) and then an after party so I guess its going to be a late night. Otherwise nothing else exciting going on here. Just waiting to hear some baby news from a few friends and one particular cousin :) Congrats to Heather and her new little girl who arrived last weekend! Bucko Jr can't wait to meet all of his new friends!

36 Weeks

Happy Birthday America! We had a fun filled 4th of July Weekend. Friday night we had a few friends over for a cookout. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate yesterday so instead of playing at the pool we sat inside and watched a movie! Oh well. The rain cleared and we were able to watch fireworks up at DCC Saturday night. Today we spent the afternoon at the pool and now we are resting up for a busy week of the John Deere Classic ahead.
Bucko Jr continues to grow as you can tell from the photo above. He got two very exciting presents this week - his carseat from the Everitts and a rocker/glider from Grandma Nancy (ok, maybe this one was really for mom). We are just about ready. Only 4 weeks to go!
